Cyril and Minnie were married on American Independence day
They divorced in 1953 They lived in HongKong at 99 Waterloo Rd, Kowloon.
The family were evacuated to Australia in 1940
Cyril was last heard of on a rescue ship as a volunteer in Cyclone Tracy (aged 76)


On 4 Jul 1926 when Cyril Maurice was 26, he married Minnie Violet Marie (Minks) DAVIS, daughter of Major Thomas Richard DAVIS & Eleanor Haidee SILCOTT. Born on 30 Nov 1903. Minnie Violet Marie (Minks) died on 17 Jul 1970; she was 66. Occupation: Teacher. Education: Dulwich High School, and Beresford House. Religion: C of E.

10. Gwendoline Winifred Courthope BOAS. Born on 17 Aug 1904 in Kotagiri, Nilgiri Hills, S India. Gwendoline Winifred Courthope died in Whangarei, NZ on 21 Jun 1986; she was 81. Buried in Onerahi Cemetery. Education: Convent School. Kotagiri. Religion: Catholic.

Gwendoline emigrated to Whangarei NZ where she died. She is buried in Onerahi graveyard, Whangarei.


On 19 Apr 1922 when Gwendoline Winifred Courthope was 17, she married Leslie Aitkin Wingham KNIGHT, son of Herbert Henry KNIGHT & Florence Annie Elizabeth WHYMAN, in St Marys, Kotagiri, Nilgiri Hills S India- RevFather Tignous. Born on 8 May 1893. Christened in Jul 1893 in Hampton, Rev Digby Ram. Leslie Aitkin Wingham died in Pyes Hall, Wrentham Suffolk, England on 19 Oct 1961; he was 68. Occupation: Indian Army Officer and RFC. Education: Repton. Religion: C Of E.

Leslie was a pilot instructor in the RFC in WW1. He fell out of a Sopwith Camel and fell 1500ft without a parachute. He survived and transfered to the Indian Army and rose to the rank of Lt Col. In India met his bride Gwendoline. He served in the Western Dessert under General Sir Claude Auchinleck and was mentioned in despatches in WW2.

11. Henry Alan BOAS. Born in 1906.

A tea planter in the Anamalis in S.India, and Shikare (Hunter) of great note. Died of emphysema brought on by many years living at high altitude.

In 1934 when Henry Alan was 28, he married Veronique HOWES, daughter of ? HOWES.

They had one child:

12. Florence Irene BOAS. Born in 1907 in Maldon. Florence Irene died in Maldon in 1962; she was 55.

Florence (Lulu) was born and brought up in Kotagiri (The Moorings) in the Nilgiri Hills S Indis.

In 1930 when Florence Irene was 23, she married James ERSKINE, son of John ERSKINE & Mary Walker Houston MILLAR. Born in 1893 in Compton. James died in Chobham, Surrey in 1993; he was 100. Occupation: Tea Planter.

James was a tea planter in the Nilgiri Hllls in S India.

They had the following children:
