Individual Magic Squares

Classification

The Smaller Individual Squares on this site each have their own page. They can be grouped, or classified, into three main groups as follows.

  1. Regular Prime Number Pan-Magic Squares (5, 7, 11, 13, 17, etc)

These magic squares are constructed using "Knight's Move" steps. Each square can be decomposed into two, and only two, magic carpets (Latin squares).

  2. Multiple Magic Carpet Pan-Magic Squares (4, 8, 9, 12, etc)

These magic squares can be decomposed into more than two Pan-Magic Carpets.

  3. 4P + 2 Magic Squares (6, 10, 14 etc.)

These squares cannot be pan-magic but they can be decomposed into multiple Magic Carpets. The order-3 square is useful because it is the basis for the formation of the order-6 square.
